Wolfgang Staribacher

The musical style of Wolfgang Staribacher is unique and unlimited. The skilled jazz musician who worked in the pop scene with Falco, Wolfgang Ambros and Hubert von Goisern plays Mozart like no other. Staribacher plays the accordion with the touch of a rock organist and improvises on the hammond organ in a mixture of funk, dirty metal and mozart-like phrases. The technical freak who worked for AKG Microphones as a product manager also developed special amplifying systems for the violin, viola, bassoon and accordion of the Mozartband. The classical instruments of the Mozartband sound as if Mozart already had this amplification in mind for his compositions. Staribacher is not only band leader of the Mozartband but also composer, producer with his own sound studio (four times platinum) and has exact ideas of how “his” music should sound. A pioneer and an uncompromising artist seemingly always swimming against the stream. Someone who needs more than musicians for his work, he seeks companions. His most intensive relationship is that to Claudia Weinzierl. She brought the Mozartband together, with all it’s unconventional members who defy definition. As manager of the Mozartband, Weinzierl has a background in linguistic and philosophy studies, dramaturgy and artistic managment. In a world of fake and mass production, her vision was to create an environment where the core human essence of the members remained tangible.
